Dee Donavan Cameo Biog

Born in Dublin, Ireland, Dee spent his mid to late teens in Drama Theatre.    However despite showing promise as an actor he decided that variety was more his line and he pursued his vocation as a Variety Entertainer.    A contracted season at Morecambe England was the start of a successful career as a professional artist.    Soon he was in demand and became a regular draw card on London's famous west-end cabaret circuit. 

He moved to Europe for several years playing to U.S. Forces in Germany France Italy North Africa and the Philippines. In 1967 he toured Vietnam entertaining Australian and American troops.    He was recently honoured with a special Citation given by the Prime Minister of Australia for his work in Vietnam!    After the tour he arrived in Sydney Australia to take up Television and Club engagements.    Recording contracts followed with E.M.I. (Australia) and Gemini Records (New Zealand)    Dee soon had a series of top ten hits a number of which he penned himself!

Affectionately known in the Industry as 'The Silver Baron' because of his silver hair and sophisticated presentation on stage he is the man you see in the KO Hairspray commercials and ads for Phillips Lights and Holden Cars.   International travellers will catch him sipping a scotch or dry martini on a Qantas or British Airway's in-flight screen or on a Billboard in New Delhi advertising Van Heusen Shirts.    His is the voice behind the series of  Irish Tourist Board and Olde Sydney Town T.V. and Radio Commercials and he is in constant demand as Host for Society Weddings/ Corporate Launches/ and Video Training Presentations.    

His movie roles include The Day of the Roses/ Babe 2/ Passion/ the A.B.C.s A Difficult Woman and more recently he appeared with Nichole Kidman in the movie Moulin Rouge and the final episode of the SciFI series Farscape.   From songwriter tand fashion compere to packaging his own Irish Production Show 'The Spirit of the Celts' this versatile entertainer does it all!   He has twice received the Australian Industry's prestigious 'Mo Award'  as 'Variety Compere o
the Year' and no less than six nominations!    He also received a nomination for the Australian Club Entertainment 'Ace Award'  for excellence in  performance.  

n May 2009 Dee received the 'Medal of the Order of Australia' (O.A.M.) for services to the Entertainment Industry and for his work in the Community in raising funds for a number of Children's Charities!    Capable of almost any kind of entertainment he is the ultimate performer!    His variety presentation covers Popular Vocals/ Situation Comedy/ Hilarious Impressions/ Guitar/ Banjo/ Ukelele and a special magic that could only come from the Emerald Isle.

Dee Donavan is one of the gentlemen of the Entertainment Industry and one of the most respected!
